DESCRIPTION:Join fabulous Sydney artist Judy Salleh for a heavenly 8 days escaping Winter in Far North Queensland.  After 2020’s lockdowns why not treat yourself!\nEach morning we join Judy for a local excursion and a workshop in the sun on watercolour\, pen and ink sketching\, journalling and travel sketching.\nStaying right near the scenic boardwalk into Airlie Beach each room has a view with ensuite bathroom\, all amenities and full daily breakfasts included. \nJuly 31 – August 7 in 2021\nAn avid urban sketcher and long time art tutor\, Judy will introduce you in her workshops to some fabulous tips and tricks of watercolour and sketching no matter what your experience level. Enjoy learning in a small group on location\, getting the fundamentals whilst gaining skills and confidence every day. Beginners to experienced sketchers all welcome.\nReceive individual attention in a supportive and friendly group environment throughout the 6 days. \nSubjects we will cover include: \n\nHistoric buildings & Architecture in Proserpine\nBoats and Reflections\nLandscapes and Skies\nSketchbook Layout and Lettering ideas\n\nKey skills covered during the Workshop will be:  \n\n\n\nSketching and Drawing: Composition & essential drawing skills Identifying key focal points and eliminating unnecessary detail ·\nTips and techniques for sketching a variety of subjects: simple objects\, buildings\, landscapes\, boats\, street scenes etc ·\nOvercoming any fear of sketching on location ·\nSketchbook Layout and Simple Lettering ·\nWatercolour: Applying colour and simplifying the process to avoid muddiness\nMagical colour mixes\nLimiting your colours to achieve harmony\nCreating beautiful skies and reflections\nTechniques for creating texture and interest in your buildings\nEnhancing your sketches with shadows and contrast\n\n\n\n\n\nPrices\n$1\,950 pp for 2 in a room sharing a twin bed or double room\nSingle supp for own room: $750 extra\nNon-sketcher (must be sharing room with a sketcher): $1\,750 \nTour inclusions: \n\n6  days’ tuition – 1 workshop per day (one day will have 2 workshops morning and afternoon)\n7 night’s accommodation in a quality centrally located hotel with views and a swimming pool. Each room has an ensuite bathroom and air-conditioning\nOur hotel is near shops\, restaurants and is a scenic flat walk along the beautiful Bicentennial Boardwalk into Airlie Beach town itself.\nAll breakfasts\, 1 lunch and 1 dinner with the group\nDay trip sketching in historic Proserpine\nDay sketching in a private studio in Shute Harbour\nOne sketch-free day for you to visit Hamilton Is\, do a tour of your choice or go snorkelling\nDemonstrations\, individual help and feedback\nA relaxed tour pace with plenty of laughs and lots of tuition!\n\nThe tour price does NOT include: \n\nAny meals other than the daily breakfasts and one group dinner\nFlights\nTransfers to and from airports to accommodation\nAny additional transport you may require in Queensland pre or post tour\n\nAirlie Beach and Proserpine in Far North Queensland are generally warm and sunny year round though the nights can be a little chilly so you MAY need to bring a cardigan – (afterall\, it IS their Winter at that time!)\nFor painting subject matter; of course we will all become experts at painting reflections\, water\, sky\, boats\, sand and palm trees\, but we also have some other sketching treats up our sleeves to entertain you and give you plenty of variety in your sketchbooks. \n\n  \nPRACTICALITIES\nArrive and check in on July 31. Tour starts that evening at 4.30 pm.\nDepart after breakfast August 7. Last night in hotel on August 6 \nNearest airports: Whitsunday Coast airport at Proserpine. Transfers can be pre-booked from $22 pp one way to your hotel here. It is also possible to fly in to Hamilton Island and catch a ferry across into Airlie Beach. \nPLEASE DO NOT BOOK ANY FLIGHTS UNTIL THE TOUR IS A DEFINITE DEPARTURE AND MINIMUM NUMBERS HAVE BEEN REACHED. After you have booked and deposited we will notify you immediately this occurs so that you can then book your flights. \nIMPORTANT POINTS TO READ \n\nThis is a very limited number workshop so please do not hesitate if you wish to be included.\n\nDeposit of $500 AUD required to secure your place on this tour.\n\nNB: IF COVID makes it impossible for us to go to Queensland from our state\, then deposits will be refunded in full up to 7 days before commencement date.
