But it still is startlingly different from the West.\nRomania is the last place in Europe where you can still see unspoiled countryside\, with the traditional rural civilisation still alive.\nTake the opportunity to visit now to experience how a country missed the Baby Boomer era of growth and development.\nPrepare to see Communist era legacy and architecture where gypsies still travel in horse and carts and peasants still live a medieval existence. Then see a mixture with colonial pomp and splendour going back centuries with the most stunning backdrop imaginable. Then this is contrasted with modernity and Western affluence at times too. \nSome of the most extraordinary architecture in the world seen nowhere else is on our tour as well as of course the history of this unusual Latin country in the heart of Slavic Eastern Europe. \nStarting in Bucarest we visit the Parliament Palace – the 2nd largest building in the world built by the dictator Ceaucescu and his wife.\nWe sketch the Parisian decadent splendour of pre-Communist Romania as well as see the vestiges of the dictator’s legacy in the buildings and changes he made.\nWe travel to Transylvania to Vlad the Impaler territory where Bram Stoker set his novel Dracula.\nSome of what we also see are: the extraordinary painted monasteries of Bucovina called the ‘Sistine Chapels of the East”\, the Black Church of Brasov\, the Red Lake\, Peles Castle and the majestic wild woodland of the Carpathians mountains and rivers. And much much more to sketch and fill a Travel Journal with variety and beauty.\nAnd Ian Fennelly will show us with daily demos and workshops how to sketch them all. \n \n\nAND as a real treat – everyone receives a signed limited edition print of one of the pieces Ian creates whilst on the tour. \n \nOur Travel Sketching tours cater for people who love history\, food\, culture and learning a creative skill – or just like to explore new places in a fun group.\nEach afternoon is free for you to amble\, explore\, read\, shop\, paint\, cook – whatever you’d like to do as we offer so many suggestions.\nWe design activities for variety and interest and you are free to join us or take off on your own.\nMany meals are included: ALL BREAKFASTS\, 3 DINNERS\, 3 LUNCHES in this amazing tour price but even when you do decide to eat with the group at times when it is not included in the tour itinerary we ensure that you only pay for what you eat and there is no bill-splitting. \nNon-sketchers are most welcome on this tour too if they are sharing a room with a Sketcher. \nDO I NEED TO BE A TALENTED ARTIST?  \nAbsolutely not. You will be there for the pure love of learning and sharing with a group of like-minded people and we all learn and create at our own pace. You can be a pure beginner and feel just as pleased with your output and learning as everyone else. Ian will be there to teach\, inspire and encourage you each day no matter what your skill and experience level.
